Easter with the cousins

Easter Sunday  morning George and I were having fun playing outside.  It was a pretty, though windy, day.  Around 10 am, my sister called and said the kids were putting eggs out in the yard so we could do an Easter Egg hunt with George.  So we grabbed his Easter basket and off we went.  The kids were having fun watch George gather the eggs they put out.  They were surprised he knew what to do!

Then George got tired of eggs and wanted to play ball.  So the boys lowered the basketball hoop and George scored big.  As J said, he's never missed in his entire career!

Such fun for George, having such fun cousins who love to play with him!

Easter

This year Chris was travelling on business for Easter, and I decided I needed to do something fun with George.  He's old enough to want to be involved and to participate.  I invited our parents' group over for an Easter Egg hunt and brunch on Saturday.  We all had a good breakfast, then let the kids loose in the front yard with Easter baskets.  It was really cute.  These were 5 little boys aged 16 months to 21 months.  We had put out 4 dozen colored eggs, 4 dozen plastic balls, and a few for each cars and toys.  At first they went out and picked up and egg, threw it down, picked up another, set down their baskets, etc...Pretty quickly they caught on and held on to their baskets, filling them one by one with eggs or toys.

But then things got interesting.  They learned a very easy way to get more eggs.  The next two pictures are of James taking the eggs and toys out of Bowen's basket, one by one, and putting them in his.

Then George went over to check out what Drew had.

Notice how full James' basket is, and how empty Bowen's is.  But they're both perfectly happy, so we figured we'd just divvy things up after the hunt.

Once George's basket was full enough that he kept tipping it over and spilling things when he tried to walk, he decided it was time to head up to the patio to play with his new toys.  There is no difference to a young toddler between a hard-boiled egg and a ball!

Meanwhile, the other boys continued to gather, and parents continued to snap photos and wrangle children to keep them away from the street.

Then James found a ball, and George decided he really wanted the ball.  This is the first time George has used the word "mine!"  And like usual, he did it with all he had.  He chased poor James right into the bushes.  And James, also saying "mine" ran all the way under the shrub!

Clever Grandma tossed another ball out, so then George wanted that one.

Then followed some basic basket stealing, egg swapping and other normal Easter egg hunt activites.  There was not a single tear shed though, which was pretty great!

A fun morning for all.  When it was all over, George went to Grandma and Poppa's house to take a nap and I went to work!

Catching Up...

So I've fallen a bit behind in my posts.  Life has been very busy.  We have been taking pictures though, so I'll try to catch up a bit on the last week.  We had a fun Sunday a week ago where Chris, George and I went to the Aquarium.  We didn't stay too long, as the Aquarium is WAY too crowded on the weekends.  But still, it was fun.  George does enjoy it.  We're members now, so we don't pay each time we visit.  This makes it fun to just stop in and visit the octopus and the Wall on Washington.

In the car on the way, George was very busy washing his tongue with a baby wipe.  This is something he has done for months.  We're not sure why...

Check out this cheeky expression...is this boy being coy?

But then he decided he didn't want any more pictures!

So then we parked along the waterfront and got to go for a nice walk to the Aquarium, watching the ships in the harbor and people walking their dogs, and lots of tourists.  George loves the fish at the Aquarium--anywhere, really.  Anytime he sees a fish tank, he cries out, "fishies!" and runs over.

At one point there is a tank in the ceiling where baby salmon were swimming.  George thought that was really cool.

We went outside to see the otters and seals and Chris had "fun" keeping up with a very happy, very active, very fast toddler.  I had fun just watching and taking pictures!

I love these next pictures of "my men."

Chris is such a good Daddy.  At this time Chris was feeling pretty overwhelmed and tired from chasing George so we headed back to the car and drove up to the Pike Street Fish Fry for the best fish and chips in Seattle.

Then in the car, George found another pacifier and thought it was very funny to use both at the same time.

As you can tell, he was pretty sleepy by this time.  So we headed home so he could take a nap.  What a fun Sunday!
