An Evening at the Beach

We had some glorious weather and decided to head to a local beach after work/studying/daycare.  We packed a picnic dinner for George, some water and sun screen, and headed for the beach.  George thought this was a wonderful way to wind down before bed.  He played in the sand with Daddy, floated his boat, scooped sand with his bucket and spade, and poured water through a spinning toy.  Such fun to be had on a lovely evening in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

He loves pointing out all of the new and exciting things he sees.  Here he is pointing out a boat.

George is also at that stage where he is seeking independence everywhere, but still likes to check in with Mommy or Daddy for approval now and again.  It is so sweet to watch him try to spread his wings, but I admit I love it when he comes running home for a "cuddle!"

This is a "No you do it!" Moment.  He spends a lot of time these days saying, "No, George do it."  Or, "No, Mommy do it."

A BIG boat!

Some time to sit in the sand and dig!

As it got close to dinner time, the light was just right to provide some pretty cool silhouette shots.

I just love the profile on the next one.

I think he looks so much like my little brother in the above picture.  It reminds me of pictures of Andy on the beach in Hawaii when we were little.

George definitely has his Daddy's walk!

What a fun way to end a busy day.  After the beach, we went home, got George to bed, and sat outside together chatting, and sharing a bottle of wine, while we cooked our dinner (much of it fresh from our garden) on the grill.
